How the Yelp! Buyout Effects You

Last night as we were getting ready to close our doors for the night we saw a “Breaking News” tweet come across our desk. It was from a Tech Crunch Article which said that Google was in the final negotiation stage to purchase Yelp! for $500 million dollars.

Now for the people following our blog you will know that for the last few days we have been talking about the importance of “going local” with your business in 2010. I just wanted to share this with you because this is even more proof that 2010 is going to be about the ultra specific local search terms. Google now will have the following setup for your business.

1 – Google Maps
2 – Goog411
3 – Yelp!
4 – Google Adwords
5 – Google Adsense
6 – Real Time Search

It is important to start looking at your business through a different lens. There are thousands of local consumers that may want to use your services, go out and grab them.

Let us know what you think this means for the local business market? How do you plan on taking advantage of the new market?
